Commission approves content of final guidelines on AI transparency (Article 50)

The European Commission approved the content of the final (non-binding) guidelines interpreting the transparency obligations under Article 50 of the AI Act – covering disclosure of interaction with AI (para 1), machine-readable marking of AI-generated content (para 2), emotion recognition and biometric categorisation (para 3), and labelling of deep fakes and AI-generated text on matters of public interest (para 4). The guidelines will be formally adopted and become applicable only once translated into all EU languages, i.e. before the Article 50 obligations take effect on 2 August 2026.
