The Czech AI Act implementing bill is on the Cabinet agenda for 9 November 2026
The Czech bill implementing the AI Act (ref. no. 503/26) is on the agenda of the Cabinet meeting on Monday, 9 November 2026. On 4 November the Ministry of Industry and Trade uploaded an updated version to the government's eKLEP system under a new title – the “Act on the implementation of a European Union regulation in the field of artificial intelligence” – and asked for it to be discussed with a debate.
The bill now reflects the Digital Omnibus on AI (Regulation (EU) 2026/1744), including adjusted definitions of administrative offences. Following review by the Government Legislative Council on 6 August 2026, it was revised mainly as regards the competences of the authorities, the regulatory sandbox and penalties. The market surveillance authorities remain the Czech Telecommunication Office (also the single point of contact under Article 70(2)), the Czech National Bank and the Data Protection Authority; the regulatory sandbox is to be established by the Office for Technical Standardisation, Metrology and State Testing (ÚNMZ) and operated by the Czech Standardisation Agency. The bill still goes to Cabinet with two unresolved objections – from the Data Protection Authority and from the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB).
According to the cover report, implementation will require approximately CZK 207 million for 2026–2028. If the Cabinet approves the bill, it will go to the Chamber of Deputies; it is to take effect on the fifteenth day after promulgation.
