Around 190 organisations have signed the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content

By the end of July 2026, around 190 organisations from the IT, telecommunications, education and retail sectors had signed the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, including Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic and Mistral. Roughly half of the signatories are small and recently founded companies. The code, which both the Commission and the European Artificial Intelligence Board assessed as adequate, is intended to help providers and deployers meet the obligations under Article 50 of the AI Act on the marking and identification of AI-generated or manipulated content. It remains open to further signatures, and from September 2026 signatories are also to cooperate in two working groups focused on sharing best practices and on the practical implementation of the code.
